Paul Volk became a Christian in 1973 in Berkeley, California, after several years pursuing Eastern religions and a counter-culture life. Before that he lived and grew up in Brooklyn, and studied and taught philosophy. After Berkeley he lived and worked in a rural Christian community in Northern Minnesota before moving to Saint Paul. He and his wife now live again in the Bay Area in California where they work with visiting Chinese scholars and students on the Berkeley campus.
