Bert Ashe: Bert Ashe is an Associate Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Richmond. He obtained an English M.A. at Virginia Commonwealth University and his doctorate degree at the College of William and Mary. He has been published in numerous academic journals, such as African American Review, the Encyclopedia of American Studies, and the Journal of Race, Gender & Class. He has also contributed to several essay collections. He lives in Virginia with his wife.
