The flora of Jammu & Kashmir is very rich in medicinal plants. The bulk of population in Sub-continent as well as Kashmir, particularly those living in rural areas relay on the indigenous system of medicine for obtaining medicinal relief. The wide popularity of herbal concoctions bears testimony to the fact that many of them may possess significant biological activity and need to be studied in depth with respect to their chemical constituents. The present work describes the phytochemical investigations of two medicinal plants. The isolated compounds were subjected for different biological activities. Some of them were found very active. Whereas the Part-B deals with the synthesis of anti-tumor topopyrone C and its related anthrapyranes via Marschalk reaction.
