Rupert Tijerina grew up in San Antonio and graduated from the University of Texas Pharmacy School. As a young child, his interests ranged from reading stories about Pecos Bill, watching TV westerns, and following early NASA space missions. He eventually bought a telescope and began reading about astronomy and the theories of the Big Bang.
