Concerted efforts are being made to preserve petroleum and their derived products through reduce, reuse and recycle. Avoiding unnecessary use and by recycling the wastes from petroleum and automobile industries are currently been viewed with great interest not only to conserve the valuable energy resource but also to have a sound management of the waste . The recycling of waste plastics, tyres, lubricant oils and heavy petroleum residues into chemical feedstock or fuel oil in order to protect the environment from hazardous waste and to re-use it as a secondary fuel in automobile industry or other applications is the focus of interest of many researchers for the past few decades to get useful products in order to safe guard the environmental issues associated with their disposition on one hand and to conserve valuable energy resources in the form of getting useful products that can be used to valorise petroleum based oils on the other. The present work is aimed at two-stage recycling of spent lubricating oil into chemical feedstock or premium fuel oils via pyrolysis over various ferrites and coal ash for its conversion in to useful fuel like products.
