He has been deputy football correspondent for the Daily Telegraph and covered five World Cup finals. He co-wrote the autobiographies of Ron Atkinson and Andrei Kanchelskis and has written a biography of Marcelo Bielsa. In 2018, he wrote the critically acclaimed Manchester City-themed Caught Beneath the Landslide.
