Melissa Desmond, the author of Tyson's Tail, is a proud mom of two amazing girls, Arabella and Indiana. A passionate animal lover all her life, she has loved ten cats, three dogs, three fish, a gala and a hermit crab. As a parent she wanted to write a book with a positive and uplifting story about pet life and death. Tyson's Tail is her story, and she shares it to help pet lovers of all ages talk about death and heal the pain of grief. Born in New Jersey in the late 70's, Melissa moved to Sydney, Australia in the early 90's and returned to New York City in 2014, before finally setting roots in Tampa, Florida in 2017 with her husband Scott, and daughters. Melissa started writing Tyson's Tail in Sydney, finished illustrating it with Joanna Blaylock in New York, and then self-published it in Tampa in 2018. It is an honor to share Tyson's Tail with you. Thank you for being part of our story! Joanna Blaylock, the Illustrator of Tyson's Tail, uses beautiful watercolor illustrations to bring this beautiful story to life. An avid animal lover, she dedicates this to her beloved dog Lily. Joanna enjoys a rewarding family life in rural Australia with her husband Ben and two sons, William and Heath, and is a talented artist who pursues a creative career.
