Ultrasonography is an important complementary diagnostic tool to which today the veterinarian has easy access, so it is of great help for the approach to the diagnosis of the different pathologies of the gallbladder, because it is noninvasive, fast and safe, ultrasonography is the preferred initial imaging technique for the observation of the gallbladder and biliary tree. In this sense, the objective of the present document was to perform a monographic literature review of the current state of knowledge concerning gallbladder ultrasonography in domestic species "canines and felines", in documents with a publication period of no more than 15 years. For this purpose, a review was made in databases (ScienceDirect, Pubmed, Scopus) to search for documents and articles related to gallbladder ultrasonography in canines and felines. A total of 377 articles were found, of which 20 were finally selected for the review. Contrast ultrasound and elastography are currently the two most advanced techniques in ultrasound of the hepatobiliary system.
