The aim of this study is to assess the effect of diabetes on the kidneys using ultrasonography. The female patients were more than males in the sample (169 - 76, 63% and 37%, respectively). The study proved that diabetic patients were subject to multiple changes in abdominal organs that can be diagnosed by ultrasound (39%) and this supports the use of ultrasound in diabetic treatment units. The study recommended using ultrasonography routinely in the treatment of diabetes disease units and follow up patients with diabetes and also that the research could constitute a base for further research in this field
