Chris Colfer nació en Clovis, California, el 27 de mayo de 1990. Es un actor y cantante mundialmente conocido, sobre todo por su papel como Kurt Hummel en la serie de televisión Glee, que le ha hecho merecedor de un premio Emmy y un Globo de Oro en 2011. En el instituto fue miembro de los clubes de debate, teatro, presidente del club de escritores y editor de la revista literaria. Fulminado por un rayo es su primera novela y en ella se basa la película protagonizada por el propio Colfer.
