When siblings Liv, Ellen and Håkon, along with their partners and children, gather around the table somewhere on the outskirts of Rome to celebrate dad and grandpa Håkon's 70th birthday, an earthquake occurs. Shock and disbelief follow, as the three adult children try to cope. Not only does it affect their relationship as brothers, but it resonates with the homes they have built for themselves, as well as forcing them to reconstruct their shared narrative about their upbringing and family history. Helga Flatland masterfully writes this story, with rare psychological insight, humor, and an almost cinematic narrative drive.
