James Burd Brewster was born a twin, raised in Albany, NY, sailed on Lake Champlain, joined the US Coast Guard, became a devout Christian, navigated a Polar Icebreaker, and married Katie Spivey from Wilmington, NC. Together they raised and homeschooled four boys and a girl. The seeds of Jim's writing career were planted when he told the Uncle Rocky, Fireman stories to Ben and Luke, their oldest two boys. His interest in publishing these stories led to a creative writing class, the publication of his first story, The Start, and eventually the publication of the Uncle Rocky, Fireman series.
