Howard Roger Garis was an American author, born on April 25, 1873, in Binghamton, New York. He is best known for creating the beloved character Uncle Wiggily Longears, an elderly rabbit who starred in a popular series of children's books. Garis had a talent for writing stories that captivated young readers, often filled with humor, adventure, and moral lessons. Many of his books, including those featuring Uncle Wiggily, were illustrated by Lansing Campbell, contributing to their charming and enduring appeal. Garis also worked as a writer for various publications before focusing on children's literature. He married Lilian Garis, and together they had a son, Roger Garis. Throughout his career, Garis wrote numerous books and stories, enchanting generations of children with his characters and whimsical tales.
