Under The Apple Tree is a compilation of memories that span the lifetime of the author. Born in 1957, this Montana baby boomer began a simple life that entwined hard work, strong family relationships and well-fortified moral values; it was a time when there was an engrained sense of responsibility that bound folks together. Under The Apple Tree is a compilation of memories that span the lifetime of the author. Born in 1957, this Montana baby boomer began a simple life that entwined hard work, strong family relationships and well-fortified moral values; it was a time when there was an engrained sense of responsibility that bound folks together. Centered on family, all recreation never extended far from home or the Rocky Mountains. Honesty and integrity were qualities that were the norm in her family and community. Folks said what they meant and meant what they said; a person was only as good as his or her word. Consumerism was not rampant, household televisions were black and white and doctors still did house calls. Recycling and repurposing weren't new, ingenious concepts, they were commonplace and logical; they were downright necessary. Manufactured goods were made in the good old USA, were made to last and technology was spent on the race to the moon. In 1969, as a result of a family, generational dispute, Rebecca's family-mom, dad and three siblings pulled up roots and moved to the city. The transition from rural living to city dwelling was dissonant and the jump into the 21st century and adulthood wasn't perhaps the smoothest for Rebecca, but with humor and grace, this author rose to the challenges and opportunities while still maintaining those homegrown principles and simple views, in spite of the ebb and flow of everyday life. Rebecca has faced many serious health challenges but her life is rich and full and wonderful and complicated and she's a fighter!!
