The family's livelihood is the welfare system and picking crops. There is a bright spot in her life, her three best friends who do most things together except pick crops and when the aunts, uncles, grandparents and her family meet underneath the weeping willow tree.

Rose Hammond was born and raised in White Cloud, Michigan. The family lived between aunts, uncles, grandparents and friendly neighbors. She loved to race up and down their dirt road against her brothers and friends, singing songs along with listening to the radio, and had dreams to model. As she entered junior high school her passion grew stronger with writing inside her journal and racing. As an adult, she graduated from college, designed created art and walking. Rose returned home only to restructure her life.
