Tales of a baggage handler is a true account of my time working at an Airport as a "baggage handler ". Names of fellow colleagues have been changed, so have handerling agents. The name of the airport doesn't get mentioned, but those of you that are regular flyers will soon work out what airport this book is based on. The book is fact based account of what I witnessed and what I was a part of during my ten year spell at the airport. From my humble beginnings as a newbie being chaperoned around on an escorted pass, gaining my airside access all areas pass, and my airside drivers licence. Being a bag rat, a bag runner, a team leader, a supervisor, being demoted back to acting supervisor / team leader, being made redundant after a ten year record and then a decision to return after a few months away and the regret it had on me. A ten year spell in any job is quite an achievement these days , I get asked " what's been your best job ?" , well I have to say it's my time spent working at the Airport . Maybe it's not the job but the people you work with, there's some truth in that. Over the ten years, I have been privileged to know and work with some wonderful people. Many are not with us anymore , quite a few I still know through Facebook , unfortunately don't get to see many , well you know what's it like time just passes us by . So if you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at an Airport , then may I suggest you read my book , it may seem farfetched in places , but trust me it's all true and the characters that you read about are real . I hope you like my book , hope it doesn't put you off flying , of course it won't , just try and enjoy and picture the scenes that I write about .
