Attitudes form a major part of ones behaviour. A lot of research in hospitality studies have concentrated on issues related to pay and motivation and very little on the attitudes of students who are pursuing careers in the hospitality industry. This study investigated the attitudes of students pursuing a degree in hospitality. It concentrated on the first years and finalist who are the fourth years, to establish what their attitudes are at the beginning and the end of their studies. The study was done in two universities and the results revealed that the students had very positive attitudes and that they were looking forward to working in the industry. Recommendations made included nurturing students attitude right from the beginning of their studies and secondly there is need for a tripartite collaboration between the students, educators and the industry so that training is streamlined along the expectations of the industry.
