In recent years, Biblical conversation seems to focus on second coming prophecy quite often and specifically to a rapture (or lifting out) of the church. Immediately following that, many believe in a seven-year period called The Great Tribulation, after which the Lord will return to this earth to reign and rule for a thousand years. The sensational concept of this idea has a great appeal but does the Bible teach any of these events, or is this just someone's vivid imagination? Has the church been misled with this sensational and popular concept or is it a solid doctrinal teaching that can be supported Biblically? When will the Lord visibly return? Those concepts, as well as others, are addressed and clarified in this book, along with other doctrines associated with the "left behind" or dispensational approach to end-times prophecy. Many readers of Revelation believe it to be too hard to understand and therefore are not able to grasp the truths contained in it, but after looking at the rest of Biblical prophecy first, then Revelation with its symbolism will become clearer. The author has approached Biblical prophecy in a simple but thorough teaching that will be understood by the reader and it is written so that most people, regardless of training or background, will be able to receive the truths of second coming prophecy and the whole presentation of eschatology will be more understandable. This book has been written in such a way that it can be used for study and teaching in Sunday School classes, small groups, or simply read alone. Its goal is for the reader to dig deeper into the Bible for the truth of its teachings.
Autorenporträt
Doug Rolfe has had many experiences in his life which has helped shape his understanding of God's Word. Growing up on an 1800 acre farm in South Central Ohio, he learned about life, death, success, failure and how to apply the Bible to everyday living. From a very early age as he and his father milked cows together, his father would teach and mentor him in an effort to help him better understand Biblical truths. Doug always said he received his best education going to "cow college". Doug attended Circleville Bible College to further his education and learn more about the Bible. It was there he saw different approaches to second coming prophecy and became very interested in pursuing eschatology. After reading many books and studying the Bible in depth, Doug realized that many of the doctrinal teachings regarding second prophecy he'd heard about were not Biblical and not what the Bible actually says about end-times prophecy. It has been his life-long dream to write this book to help you understand what he learned. Doug is a retired enroute air traffic controller with his commercial pilot's license, instrument and multi-engine ratings, as well as a flight instructor license. He has taught large adult Sunday School classes for 30+ years and has written several Bible studies, has been a lead elder, board chairman, and treasurer of 3 churches across the years. After much study and attending a Creation College class, he is presently involved in teaching "creation apologetics" in a variety of settings. While he is a member of Mensa and continues to diligently study God's Word, none of his lifetime accomplishments compare to knowing his Lord intimately and looking steadily forward to His promise of eternal life with Him. Doug and his wife of nearly 48 years reside near Indianapolis, Indiana.
