Since its entry into force, the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has been in the news. If the project becomes a reality, the AfCFTA could play an important role in the achievement of the AU Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals in Africa. It is therefore understandable why its operationalisation is attracting a lot of interest from development specialists and non-specialists alike. Every African citizen wants to make his own idea on this flagship project of the Agenda 2063. Unfortunately, the necessary tools for a pertinent analysis of the FTAA are not always available. This is where the merits of this book lie. Using a logical approach and simple language, the author provides the reader with the knowledge needed to understand the FTAA. He traces the history of African integration, analyses the opportunities of the FTAA and then identifies the major challenges to its operationalisation.
