Ron Field is a retired history teacher and an award-winning author of 19th century military history. He is a fellow of the Company of Military Historians and senior editor of Military Images magazine. He was given the William K. Emerson Award in 2012, and advised on uniforms for the movie Free State of Jones in 2015.
