Thus the book includes number of trees not familiar to flower-lovers, it is hoped that it will ignite interest of among researchers, foresters and environmentalist. Despite of all these, there is a need of a modern book on the unique trees in the State, with color photographs. To ascertain their botanical names and distribution is not always easy unless one is botanically sound and has a good literature. Many people, however, lack the time and facilities for such research and are unable to visit botanical gardens where correctly labeled specimens of these trees may be found. This book accordingly gives common/local names, origin, distribution in Gujarat, uses and flowering-fruiting phenology of some of the unique trees of Gujarat, together with colored photographs. It aims to be of service to those who wish to learn not only the names of these unique trees but also something about their origin, phenology and uses.
