The University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, known locally as UMC, is a non-profit hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.UMC is the only hospital run by Clark County, Nevada. The hospital was founded in 1931 and is affiliated with the University of Nevada School of Medicine. The Clark County Commission serves as the board that runs the hospital.On September 13, 1996, rapper Tupac Shakur died from respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, after having been in critical condition for six days.Roy Horn of Siegfried & Roy was stabilized here after he was attacked by one of his own tigers on October 3, 2003. Roy was subsequently transferred to UCLA Medical Center for recovery and rehabilitation.
