The University of Georgia College of Education (COE) is one of fifteen colleges and schools within the University of Georgia (UGA) in Athens, Georgia, United States.The COE comprises the schools of Health and Human Performance, Leadership and Lifelong Learning, Professional Studies, and Teacher Education.The COE was founded in 1908 by the University Board of Trustees and Chancellor David Barrow as the Peabody College of Education. Its original head was Professor Thomas J. Woofter who had served on the UGA faculty as the Chair of Philosophy and Education since 1903. The school's first building was George Peabody Hall on UGA's North Campus.
