In the annals of unidentified flying object (UFO) encounters, the incident involving Alaska Airlines Flight 1628 stands as one of the most intriguing and well-documented cases in aviation history. Occurring on November 17, 1986, this captivating event unfolded in the vast Alaskan skies, leaving both the flight crew and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) perplexed and baffled by the mysterious encounter. Alaska Airlines Flight 1628 was a routine cargo flight en route from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Tokyo, Japan, with a stopover in Anchorage, Alaska. Onboard were the flight crew, consisting of experienced captain Kenju Terauchi, copilot Takanori Tamefuji, and flight engineer Yoshio Tsukuda. The trio was accustomed to navigating the Arctic skies, but nothing could have prepared them for what they were about to witness. As the flight entered the Alaskan airspace, Captain Terauchi and his crew were greeted by an awe-inspiring celestial display - three unidentified objects that seemed to defy the laws of known aircraft performance. The objects were initially spotted by the flight engineer, Tsukuda, who notified the captain immediately. According to official reports and Terauchi's testimony, the UFOs were enormous, each spanning up to two-thirds of the length of the Boeing 747 they were piloting. They emitted a powerful and intense light, unlike any conventional aircraft's navigation lights. Moreover, the objects appeared to maneuver in ways that defied the principles of aerodynamics, executing astonishingly rapid and precise movements. Concerned for the safety of his flight and passengers, Captain Terauchi contacted the FAA's Anchorage Air Traffic Control, seeking an explanation for the mysterious objects. The radar controller at the FAA's Anchorage Center confirmed that there were indeed unidentified objects within the vicinity of Flight 1628, but no other air traffic was reported in the area. As the flight continued its journey, the UFOs persistently shadowed the aircraft, maintaining a fixed position relative to the plane. They followed the flight for over 30 minutes, during which the crew attempted to identify the objects using binoculars and the aircraft's cameras. However, due to the intensity of the lights emitted by the UFOs and the challenging weather conditions, it was difficult to capture conclusive evidence. In an attempt to escape the perplexing presence of the unidentified objects, Captain Terauchi made a series of evasive maneuvers and altitude changes. Astonishingly, the UFOs mirrored each move, keeping pace with the aircraft effortlessly. This synchronized aerial dance only added to the mystery surrounding the encounter.
