This eliminates the possibility of birds, large insects, or anything flying as an explanation for these targets. To maintain altitude, a flying target would have to show an appreciable speed relative to the wind. However, witnesses indicate that the speed of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) differs significantly according to various reports and sightings. Certain witnesses assert they have observed UFOs traveling at astonishing velocities, frequently surpassing 1,000 miles per hour (1,609 kilometers per hour) or even considerably more. For example, in military documents, certain UFOs have been depicted as executing swift movements that challenge standard aerodynamics, indicating speeds that may reach supersonic or hypersonic levels.
