James Randall Miller, author of Howling Across Bridges, After the Purple Heart, and Knock on the Sky, was born in Germany and has traveled and lived throughout the world. With degrees in physics and geophysics, Mr. Miller has worked as a sailor, seismologist, geophysicist, scientist, and environmental engineer. After thirty years in Alaska, he and his wife now live near the White Tank Mountains in Arizona.
