Recent changes in the rules, by increasing the dynamics of the bouts and their physiological demands, have modified the preparation of the judo players. For this reason, evaluative studies are required that are accurately adjusted to the competitive demands. Consequently, coaches have introduced the Four Minute Projection Test, whose protocol was pending validation and therefore it was still unknown whether it could provide the necessary information to evaluate the special resistance in high-level judokas. This research studies the results of its application during the preparation for the 2016 Olympic Games, to the seven leading figures of the Cuban National Preselection, members of different weight divisions. Heart rate and blood lactate concentration were recorded both at rest and post-load, in addition to performance variables.
