Jude E. Scolnick was born and raised in Trinidad. From an early age, she had 3 fascinations: hair, baking, and caring for others. At the age of 18, Jude decided to pursue her dreams and moved to New York where she used skills she'd developed from childhood to provide hair care for women and men of all ages. It wasn't long before Jude realized these joys were more in the realm of hobbies. A shift occurred. The brutal winters in New York made Jude yearn for the warm days she experienced growing up in the Caribbean. The combination of these desires led her to Florida, where she got married gave birth to her son, Brandon. While taking off a few years to embrace the role of mom, Jude rediscovered her joy of caring for others, which guided her to become a pediatric medical assistant. Jude's enthusiasm for children would once again shift, as Brandon's school schedule wasn't aligned with her work schedule. The only logical step for Jude was to go back to school and become a teacher, which would provide her with a schedule identical to her son's. The result was magic! At long last, Jude discovered her true joy - feeding young minds with every imaginable lesson and guiding them to be good humans. Jude earned her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. Her qualifications include childcare director, health, safety and nutrition, child growth development, behavioral observation, and early literacy. As a teacher, Jude was quite popular and always had a growing list of parents wanting their kids in her class. Jude developed a unique method of teaching which benefited children as young as the age of 3. After several years of teaching, Jude decided to challenge herself by doing something that would reach thousands, if not millions of children. It is Jude's hope that Upside Down Oy and Franny the Foodie is just the beginning of doing all that and more.
