In recent decades, the problem of air pollution has been increasing due to the drastic increase of anthropogenic activity and industrial development. However, the problem of polluting emissions from the transport sector is becoming more and more worrying at the local, regional and global levels. This work, anchored in the field of transport, aims to study the polluting emissions from road transport in the city of Batna, one of the major Algerian agglomerations. It is also located at the crossroads of the two privileged themes of our century, namely environmental concerns and the demographic growth of cities. Initially, we propose to become familiar with the problem of air pollution as well as the various sources, its repercussions in terms of environment and living environment and the regulations associated with its measurement. We continue this bibliographical study by describing the various existing emission inventories, which are a fundamental tool for environmental impact studies.
