This study assess the urban climate characteristics of Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. This was to ascertain the urban temperature, relative humidity and precipitation in Benin City and its Environs. The data used in this study were generated from direct field measurement of temperature, relative humidity and precipitation for the period of six months. Mobile transverse method was used in the collection of temperature, relative humidity at a pre-determined location within the urban canopy and the rural area of Benin city. The followings are the major findings: Temperature within the urban canopy differs significantly among various land use types and between the urban areas. Relative humidity within the urban canopy differs significantly among the various land use types, the natural parks and gardens are more humid and moist than the other land use types. The rural areas are more humid and moist than urban areas. Precipitation amounts differ significantly within the urban area, also the urban areas are wetter than the rural areas.
