With the military-political crisis of 2002, Ivorian cities faced a number of difficulties, including the need for efficient sanitation. The urban environment is degraded and unhealthy. Since 2010, the French government, concerned about the image of the urban landscape and the well-being of the population, has undertaken an emergency presidential program to remedy this problem.
