It can provide a major attraction for tourists and is important element in the development of tourist industry. However, the problems which arise following the urbanization process have been affecting the existence and the value of urban heritage. This book tries to review some documents about the city s prestige and the risk that is overwhelming as a result of the fast growing urbanization process. This book has also asses the perception of the duelers of the city about its heritages in which the data was collected in 2002. The samples for the study were selected to be Piazza and Merkato which are among the well known places with several heritage symbols of the city.

Asmeret Gebrehiwet is graduated is graduated in Sociology and Social Administration from Addis Ababa University. She has worked as program Coordinator for different international NGOS. In addition to this paper, she has been doing different researches in Urban Agriculture, Health and Poverty of Children in the rural areas of Ethiopia.
