The literal meaning of 'Hamd' is to praise, to describe the merits, to acknowledge the greatness and to acknowledge one's master. This word praise is reserved only for Allah the Almighty. Ever since poetry was experienced in the Urdu language, hymns (Hamd) were written. Due to the religious and literary value of the 'Hamd', it is not only a tool to satisfy our anxious emotions, fear of God, confirmation of insight and vision or poetry for poetry's sake, but it has a permanent genre status in literature. This book examines the same literary status.
