Since 1998, the national championships have been a large event featuring competition between clubs for the national title. The competition is co-ordinated by the United States Australian Football League (US Footy) and brings together representative sides from states across the country and more recently, Canada. The competition consists of 3 men's divisions and a women's division, each culminating in a Grand Final to decide the winner. The Denver Bulldogs have been the most successful men's side in the premier division at the US Nationals, winning their 4th straight championship in 2005 (5th in six years). The 2004 Nationals were filmed by Fox Footy Channel (Australia), and appeared in a documentary by Tiffany Cherry. In 2005, a women's division was started. The Atlanta Lady Kookaburras won the inaugural Women's Division and achieved backto back in 2006.
