Mobile learning refers to learning processes supported by the use of mobile and wireless technologies in the teaching and learning process. The aim of this paper is to study, in the literature, experiences of using mobile technology resources (cell phones, tablets and the like) in education in general, looking at the materials and methods adopted and the results obtained. After reviewing the literature, an exploratory study was carried out (interviews with course and technology coordinators, and questionnaires with students and teachers) with the aim of identifying which mobile technology resources have been used in virtual undergraduate courses and for what academic purpose. The results show that the universities analyzed are very concerned about adapting their teaching materials and developing specific tools for mobile learning. The results obtained in this research could serve as support for the institutions analyzed and for other interested parties, subsidizing the development or improvement of pedagogical practices involving mobile communication devices.
