This research project, which began in 2005 and was completed in 2010, has the overall purpose to transfer modeling expertise and numerical simulation technology to countries needing them for their national nuclear waste management programs. Basic activities as part of this project consisted of (1) demonstrating the use of modeling strategies to address relevant issues using site-specific data (if available), (2), gain insights in the reliability and uncertainty of numerical model predictions, and (3) improving the modeling capabilities at institutions in the participating Member States.
