The use of immovable tangible cultural heritage has benefits for cultural tourism. Currently there is little research on this topic, and the information does not focus on the value of uses of these properties. To counteract this, the theoretical foundation details important issues such as cultural tourism, cultural heritage, the use of immovable tangible cultural heritage (ITCP), the importance of the use and the diagnosis of the current state of the ITCP of the city of Tulcán and also includes the laws of the Ecuadorian State focused on the heritage context. This research was developed with a qualitative approach. The techniques used were observation and semi-structured interview. The study defends the idea that the use of immovable tangible cultural heritage promotes cultural tourism. Finally, the value that cultural heritage has through the adequate use generates a source of material resources for the activation of cultural tourism together with the new generations.
