A good physical education professional must not only know the basic content taught in their degree course, but also be able to critically analyse it, thus recognising its application to their field. In general, biostatistics is little associated with physical education, not only by society, but also by the students themselves, leading us to the following question: is biostatistics really important and is it used in the areas of physical education? In view of this problematisation, this study aims to verify whether biostatistics is used in relevant articles in the field of physical education, thus seeking to understand the importance or otherwise of learning biostatistics at undergraduate level for physical education students. In order to meet this objective, we asked the professors of the physical education department at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM) for 10 relevant articles in their field that were not bibliographical reviews, and carriedout a documentary analysis in order to gather information on the use or non-use of biostatistics in these documents.
