This book is an introduction to pragmatics designed for English learners learning pragmatics. It introduces some topics commonly discussed in pragmatics: deixis, implicature, speech act, and politeness. What makes this book different from other pragmatics books is that it simplifies the origin books discussing those topics. The simplication is called for since for most EFL (English as a Foreign Language) learners, pragmatics theories are difficult. As such, this book is analogous to a stepping stone to the original version of pragmatics books. Most examples of talks presented in this book are naturally-occuring ones that I have collected from various sources such public places, mass media, and daily conversation. For the sake of authenticity, they are written in original languages, and they are provided with the English version.
