Kaia was born in New Zealand and started writing urban fantasy novels in a notebook in chemistry class at school. She did not pass chemistry. She now writes speculative fiction, primarily urban fantasy and sci-fi, with a deliberate Kiwi flavour, and a fair whack of inappropriate humour.
