Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Collegi Maristes Valldemia, or Valldemia Marist High School is located in Mataró, Catalunya in Spain. The school''s origins can be traced back to the Catalan Academy at the Can Miralpeix (View of the Fish Home) New School at the Country Manor, founded in 1856 by three Marist Brothers, Hermenegild Coll i Valldemia, Pelegrí Ferrer and Ramon Cuspinera. The school was founded with the objective to provide a modern education, comprehensive and Christian. Thirty-one years later, in 1888, the school acquired its current location on Carrer Sant Josep, in a building that was to become known as the Valldemia School of Mataró. The school received its first international recognition at the Paris Exposition in 1900, a Gold Medal in recognition of quality education. During the convulsive years that marked the Spanish Civil War, Valldemia was converted into a hospital and blood bank.
