Valley Humane Society is an animal welfare organization in Alameda County, California, advocating responsible pet ownership. They seek to provide their community with educational outreach and collaborative programs that enrich the bond between people and companion animals and eliminate unnecessary euthanasia.Valley Humane Society has been improving the lives of Tri-Valley companion animals for over 20 years. They are the only no-kill facility in the area to accept animals by private surrender. Incorporated in 1987, the organization was started and initially operated solely by volunteers. Valley Humane Society shifted to a board model of governance in 2003 and hired its first Executive Director shortly thereafter. Since then the Society has grown to employ eight full and part-time staff members, who manage operations supported by over 150 dedicated volunteers.
