An experiment was conducted in farmers fields at five local government areas of Kano state namely; Bagwai, Garko, Kibiya, Madobi and Rimingado during 2016 rainy season. The research was aimed at evaluating performance of sweet potato improved varieties in terms of yield and nutritional qualities for possible recommendation to the local farmers. The design of the experiment was randomised complete block design with the five locations as the replicates. Data collected were subjected to analysis of variance using Genstat 17th edition statistical software and the means were separated using DMRT at 5% level of probability. The result revealed significant differences among the varieties on the agro-morphological characters and some nutritional contents. The local variety (Danchina) produced the highest total yield (25.5 t ha-1) but was statistically at par with the newly introduced improved variety King J (20.4 t ha-1). Phenologically the varieties were all similar in their growth habit (spreading) but differed in vine colour, root shape, skin colour and flesh colour. The introduced improved variety T121 had significantly higher vitamin C (9.23 mg/ dl) and carbohydrate content (52.22%).
