Kachnar (Bauhinia variegata) is a small or medium sized deciduous tree with elongated spreading crown and green foliage. It belongs to the family fabaceae and sub-family caesalpenaceae. The present investigation entitled "Variation in phenological characters in clones of Bauhinia variegata L", was carried out in order to determine variation in different clones for phenological characters, morphometric traits as also estimation of genetic parameters, correlation, path coefficient analysis and divergence studies. The clonal seed orchard of Bauhinia variegata was established in June 2011 in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The observations were made on the growth performance of the clones in the clonal seed orchards over the years and top fifteen clones were selected for further analysis. Among the phenological observations best flowering and fruting was recorded in clone C 11 (Jhajjer koti) and clone C 15 (Sahastharadhara) , Clones C 14 (Palampur) and C15 (Sahastharadhara ) showed outstanding performance for most of the morphometric traits including highest green leaf yield i.e. 13.10 kg and 8.00 kg per tree.
