Wolfgang David Cirilo de Melo was educated at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, the University of Oxford, and SOAS University of London. He is currently Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Oxford, having previously held a post-doctoral position at All Souls College before moving to Ghent University. He is the author of the monographThe Early Latin Verb System: Archaic Forms in Plautus, Terence, and Beyond(OUP, 2007) and has also edited and translated Plautus for Harvard University Press, in five volumes.
