Facial vascular algae (FVA) is a rare primary headache associating painful attacks of severe intensity and homolateral dysautonomic signs. Facial vascular algae (FVA) is a rare primary headache associating painful attacks of severe intensity and homolateral dysautonomic signs. The absence of studies on this pathology in Tunisia prompted us to conduct this work in order to describe the epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and evolutionary characteristics of FVA. We also analysed the psychological, socio-economic and quality of life repercussions of FVA.FVA remains an under-diagnosed pathology with a major negative impact on work and quality of life and is strongly associated with psychiatric disorders. It is necessary to establish a consensus concerning the diagnosis and treatment of FVA in Tunisia as well as a strategy for continuing education on this subject.

El Pr Anis D. Riahi es Profesor Adjunto de Neurología de la Facultad de Medicina de Túnez y Jefe de la Unidad de Neurofisiología del Hospital Militar de Túnez (Túnez).
