He earned a bronze medal in the 4 x 10 km relay at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary while his best individual Winter Olympics finish was a 13th in the 50 km event in 1992.Korunka also won a bronze medal in the 4 x 10 km relay at the 1989 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships.
