Autorenporträt
Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, geb. 1836 in Lemberg, entschloss sich nach einer frühen Habilitation als Geschichtswissenschaftler Schriftsteller zu werden. Seine Werke behandeln oft historische Themen, beschreiben die galizische Heimat und jüdisches Leben. Sein Nachruhm beruht überwiegend auf literarischen Darstellungen grausamer Frauen ('Venus im Pelz'). Sacher-Masoch starb 1895 in Lindheim.
