Autorenporträt
Candis Kirk is a high school science teacher with a passion for animals. She has seven years experience as a veterinarian assistant/technician. It was during her time working with animals that she observed a terrible misconception: the best animals are those bought at stores or from animal breeders. Although you can obtain a wonderful pet this way, it is in her experience that stray animals or those adopted from the animal shelters make just as wonderful companions. She has found they tend to be more loving and affectionate, possibly due to their awareness of being rescued. It is her hope that this children's book inspires others to give strays and shelter animals a chance to be a child's next furry companion.
