Veto, The Governor's Cat is a tale of the experiences that many young children go through, written through the eyes of Veto, who is the real cat of Nathan Deal, the eighty-second Governor of Georgia. Through colorful characters, Veto discovers new friendships, the challenges of moving, overcoming fear and grief, self-discovery, and the importance of kindness and courage. A portion of the proceeds from Veto, The Governor's Cat will support literacy projects and other educational initiatives through the work of The Deal Foundation.Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
Nathan Deal has served the citizens of the State of Georgia as a State Senator, a United States Congressman, and as the eighty-second Governor of Georgia. After he left public service, his wife, Sandra, asked him to write a children's book she could read in the many schools that had made requests of her. Veto, The Governor's Cat is a true story told by Veto, who still lives with the Governor. At the encouragement of his children and the editor, the Governor has added some colorful and interesting characters that teach Veto, and, hopefully, the readers some important lessons of life. The Deal Foundation was established to continue the work of former First Lady Sandra Deal by promoting literacy projects and initiatives. Sandra Dunagan Deal (1942-2022) was the daughter of educators and taught for many years in the public schools of Georgia. As First Lady of Georgia for eight years, she made literacy her primary focus. She impressed upon children that literacy opened the doors of imagination, comprehension, and a future full of possibilities. It is estimated that over250,000 children heard her read aloud in all 159 Georgia counties, 181 school districts, and over 1,000 classrooms. She was known to make a classroom glow with her radiant smile, effervescing enthusiasm, and patient generosity. She believed reading to be the greatest gift given to a child. "Veto, The Governor's Cat" was written by her husband, Nathan Deal, to honor her and her work.
